Can home spas be used in the winter?

The short answer to this question is a resounding YES! Taking a dip in the cold winter can be one of the most fun and rewarding times to do it. Look for a Hot Tub that has a feature to prevent the water from freezing, and the water will have yearlong protection. Spa usage in the winter will also be highly beneficial when it comes to aching joints.

The hot water and gentle bubbles provide a great deal of relief to stiff and achy body parts. It is also a very nice activity to do with your significant other as it is a very romantic setting.

How much do Hot Tubs cost?

Nowadays, you do not need to shell out thousands on a massive wooden Spa. There are lots of inflatable Spas that take up a much smaller amount of your garden space and suit all budgets. Here is a small selection to look at.

Use Spas safely

It is stating the obvious but never leave young children unattended near the hot tub even when it is not in use.

Other safety measures to consider are as follows.

  • Only use for approximately 30 minutes at a time, 45min max.
  • Do not use if taking sedatives or drinking heavily.
  • Do not eat or smoke in the hot tub.
  • Avoid use after a heavy meal.
  • Keep the heat moderate at 37 degrees Celsius 100 degrees Fahrenheit.
  • Make sure that you always replace the cover when not in use.
  • Follow the recommended cleaning and water treatment instructions.

Even though there are benefits to be gained from using hot tubs and spas they can be harmful to some people and are to be avoided if you’re pregnant, suffering from heart diseases, weakened immune systems or low blood pressure, currently have a Urinary Tract Infection or injured skin. If in any doubt, contact the manufacturer for advice or consult with your health care provider.

How often must you change the water in a spa?

The water in your Spa is kept sanitary with specialized treatments, like a swimming pool and all hot tubs come with instructions and recommendations you need to follow to maintain the tub and keep the water fresh. Overall, the Spa will need a complete drain and water change every 3-4 months, which is pretty good going.
