Sony Playstation portable or PSP, hand held games console is not just a games console, features include video, music playback, RSS feeds, internet browser to name but a few, it's not short on extra's and can be upgraded to include others like Skype and Go messenger.
The slim and light version came with some great improvements to the console itself apart from being lighter and slimmer, raised buttons, longer battery, No more UMD firing so you're not picking your games off the floor.
The screen is fantastic and colours do appear brighter than the previous pre diet model, importantly games loads quicker also. Lets not forget the new TV out feature either if you so desire to use it, imagine games on an even bigger screen - I haven't tried it yet but looking forward to getting the cable.
Comparisons to the DS (which I also have) are inevitable so let's get those out of the way, I feel the graphics are better on the PSP, which has a bigger screen, battery life on the DS however is much longer than the PSP, but setting up the Wi-fi on the PSP I found much easier.
Games, there are some fantastic PSP games, but many say the DS has greater choice which is probably about right from my point of view, racing and sporting games work well on the PSP as do FPS and they do have a good back catalogue GTA, Ratchet & Clank, Final Fantasy to name but a few.
If these are your type of games then welcome to dreamworld, however if you never tire of wanting brain training and interactive games then maybe a DS would be more suitable.
However the PSP has exceeded all of my expectations, love the possibility of using the PSP as a remote for PS3, which we haven't actually got around to trying yet so I cannot really honestly comment.
If you're going to invest in this fantastic machine I would recommend you ensure you invest in a case as smudges and dirty finger marks are a problem. The PSP may have been Sonys first hand held console but they keep on surprising me and the new features and upgrades will I'm sure keep on doing so. Go on treat yourself I am sure you will not be disappointed. |
