Is Sky Digital Value For Money?
|
| Sky Digital is the UK’s most popular satellite television provider. With well over 7 million subscribers in the UK alone they must be doing something right. They are the leading sports events broadcaster in the UK with budgets that other broadcasters just cannot compete with but does their service represent good value for money? |
Sky Digital have packages that start from a seemingly reasonable £16.50 per month to as much as bank-breaking £55.75 a month.
It must be said that Sky Digital have been adding value to their service by bundling the hugely popular Sky+ Box with broadband internet access and UK telephone calls as well as offering free installation. However, many would say that the extra added services are basic additions to a service that is already well overpriced.
Click here to view the Sky Digital Packages and pricing.
When it comes to programming no one can deny that Sky blow the competition out of the water. Sky One alone which comes with the most basic of packages is packed full of amazing shows including exclusive U.S. hit TV shows such as The Simpsons, 24 and Lost to name but a few.
In movies Sky are in a league of their own with channels such as Sky Movies Family, Sky Movies Comedy, Sky Movies Classics, Sky Movies Modern Greats and Sky Movies Screen 1. With the Sky Movies channels you can basically watch hit movies back to back every single day if you have the time for that type of thing.
Sports broadcasting used to be literally owned by Sky but regulators have broken the stranglehold Sky previously had, which has resulted in other Satellite and cable stations such as Setanta Sports emerging and taking a considerable slice of the live sports event pie and even terrestrial stations such as BBC and ITV have picked up some of the crumbs along the way.
Whether you’re a subscriber or not we would like to know if you think the Sky Digital service represents good value for money. Please cast your vote and leave any comments below. |

the reason is simple the pure cost of sky sports 1/2/3 £18.00 on top of our package. Yet any other is only a £1.00. It should be £3.00 per sport package = £9.00.

I have had sky for about 6 years now and I think it is getting more expensive and the shows are getting worst, most of the shows are repeats and they repeat them a number of times. If the nation was not going digital later this year I would cancel the sky altogether.

All these tv touts are a rip off, as for the bbc and the tv license well thats just blatent robbery, do we live under a dictatorship no i dont think so. Which would bring anyone to ask why do we have to pay to support the BBC and all the rubbish they produce it sickens me to the core.

You bet you're sweet life they are too dear!!! £10 for this and £10 for that, it's about time they started to drop their price's, after all there is a recision on, i'm thinkin of knocking them on the head anyway, & just sticking with freeview!

Not value for money what with the digital switch over sky must be getting more and more subscribers so the price should come down.
